Shabana Azmi would have loved to do any character in a Ray film

“I consider myself very lucky to have played the role of Kurshid in ‘Shatranj’ and to have been cast by a director like Ray”, said Shabana Azmi at a literary meet held in Kolkata.

When asked which character she would have liked to portray other than her role in 'Shatranj Ke Khilari', she said that "Every single one, including children and men - anything"

Shabana Azmi played the wife of a nobleman Mirza Sajjad Ali (portrayed by late Sanjeev Kumar) in the film 'Shatranj ki Khilari' (1977) based on the short story of Munshi Premchand.

Kunku fame Praful Bhalerao, a Marathi actor dies in a railway accident

Praful Bhaleroa, age 22 died on 22^nd January 2017 in a railway accident near Malad railway station at 4.20 AM. 

Officials suspect, that he was travelling on the footboard and must have lost his grip and slipped off once the train gained speed.  

He boarded at Malad station and was travelling to Girgaum. He was returning back to home from his night shift. Praful’s body has been sent to the hospital for postmortem.

He was seen in a famous Marathi daily soap Kunku as a child actor. He has also featured in other Marathi serials like, “Tu Majha Sangati”, “Jyotiba Phule” and “Nakushi”. He has also worked in a recently released Marathi film named “Barayan” .

His sudden demise is very saddening … May his soul rest in peace.
