Harman Baweja, who is assaulting into the film world with the much talked about futuristic film ‘Love Story 2050’, said that he has cleared out his problems with Kareena Kapoor created by formulated remarks. He said that he was surprised and humiliated after reading reports about him making hurtful remarks about Kareena. The remarks attributed to him about Kareena being 'mechanical' in her performances had upset Harman.
He added that he would never speak like that about anyone, least of all someone who is a senior (colleague) and was gracious enough to work with him when he was just starting out. That she finally opted out of 'Love Story 2050' doesn't take away from the fact that they got along really well. Harman's distress ended while he was in Delhi for an event. On an urge he sent an SMS to Kareena, telling her how dreadful the words attributed to him about her made him feel.
Kareena, who is known to be in the US shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala's ‘Kambhakt Ishq’, reportedly replied back in a long sincere message, saying that she has been a part of the film industry long enough to know how such things work.

Opinions for Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi of Sooraj Bharjatia

There are very few producers who add in inputs from the crew of the film. So it was a pleasant surprise when Sooraj Barjatya invited the entire cast and crew of his film, Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi, for a special screening, and asked for their opinion on the film. The film was screened at a private theatre in Rajshri Production’s office at Prabhadevi. The entire cast and crew were given a note-pad and a pen to jot down their observations and opinion. Before the screening began, it was announced that everyone must note their suggestions, and if they were found suitable, they will be incorporated in the film. When contacted, Sooraj Barjatya confirmed that they took their crew’s opinion. They also did a similar exercise once the script of the film was finalized. At Rajshri they believe that it is vital to take everyone’s opinion, be it an assistant or a technician.
As a producer, he should know if the film has touched people’s soul or not. What could be a better way of finding this out? He tells his crew honestly that he wants to hear their opinion, and they give him an honest feedback. If he will not consider his crew’s opinions after asking them for it, then all he will get will be sugarcoated lies. They are all together to make a good film and his crew understands that. Speaking about the changes done so far in Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi, he said that a technician pointed out one editing error and that has been now corrected. As a result of another technician’s observation, one scene has more background score now. There will be many more changes by the time the film finally releases around October-November. Barjatya goes a step further. According to him the families of the cast and crew will also get to watch film so that they can estimate how much the film will appeal to the entire family, or to their female audiences. Barjatya’s assistant Kaushik Ghatak directs Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi. This movie stars Sonu Sood and Ishaa Koppikar.

Sanjay Gupta disappointed by Chamki Chameli

It is heard that Sanjay Gupta had to drop his dream project - the stylized musical opera on celluloid Chamki Chameli. This musical fantasy was supposed to transpose Georges Bizet’s legendary opera Carmen to the Rajasthani deserts. Reportedly, Gupta needed a glamorous actress for the title role, and he approached four to five top actresses but they turned the role down because the protagonist is a negative character.
Disappointed with the outcome of Chamki Chameli, Gupta said that the casting was not up to the mark.
Chamki Chameli is the greatest failure of his life. There are about 40 versions of the opera and he is trying to create one of his own. He wishes they had the resources to create a new star for Chamki Chameli.

Vivek Oberoi and Apoorva Lakhia not getting along

Supposedly, Vivek Oberoi is not too happy with his role in Apoorva Lakhia's upcoming movie titled Mission Istanbul. It is heard that lately, Oberoi and Lakhia have spaced out absolutely. Now, Vivek is not on talking terms with Lakhia, who gave him a new lease of life with Shootout At Lokhandwala at a time he most needed. But still, Vivek has not stopped shooting with Lakhia and is completing the film in all respects. Vivek being professional is going through the remaining work on the film quite smoothly. Talking about the equation between Lakhia and Vivek reaching the lowest point, it was known that the problem started sometime ago when Vivek suddenly started feeling that Zayed Khan has been given more value in the movie and its publicity, and thus, a cold war ensued.
Lakhia and Vivek did not come together much at an awards event held in Bangkok in the first week of June. The two also had a disagreement recently. It was also known that Vivek called up Sunil Shetty who is the co-producer of Mission Istanbul to complain and that was the last straw. He complained that he deserved more prominence in the publicity, as he is a bigger star than Zayed Khan. Currently Vivek is shooting for his solo song that is a follow up on Ae Ganpat song on Apu’s set at the Film City and they are having a blast. It appears that wanting to safeguard his film, Lakhia was only slightly forthcoming. He said that Mission Istanbul has two lead actors, and they are publicising it accordingly. Oberoi has not spoken about his discomfort to him yet. Mission Istanbul is being co-produced by Popcorn Productions and Balaji Telefilms.

Mahesh Bhatt not moving ahead with movie Suicide Bomber

As we all know that with the failure of the Emraan Hashmi starrer Awarapan and Dhoka that was directed by daughter Pooja Bhatt, the viciously frank Mahesh Bhatt has learnt his lesson. He has learnt that Indian audience is tired of stories, which are being told from the perspective of Muslim fundamentalists.
Consequently, Mahesh has shelved Suicide Bomber, which was supposed to be the debut film of his son Rahul. Confirming that Rahul’s debut film will not be Suicide Bomber, Mahesh said that Vishesh Films would launch him in a very big way now. They are not going ahead with Suicide Bomber. The failure of Awarapan and Dhoka has taught him that people don't want to see films that tell you why Muslim fundamentalists are what they are.
The story line of Suicide Bomber was very much on those lines. In the film, Rahul played the son of a Pakistani father and an Indian mother. He resides in London and later turns into a Muslim fundamentalist due to the events, which occur, in his life post 9/11.
In fluffy times films, which help you to escape into a fantasize world, work at the box-office, whereas realistic films don’t. Subhash Ghai’s recent film, Black & White didn’t do well despite being a decent film. However, they might make Suicide Bomber later but only for the Western audience. Mahesh’s brother, Mukesh, too confirmed and said that they are not making Suicide Bomber.
Buzz is that Anurag Basu backing out of the project is one more reason why Bhatts are not making Suicide Bomber. When asked about this, Mukesh said that Anurag Basu was supposed to direct it, but later, he developed cold feet due to some reason. Then, he got busy with Rakesh Roshan’s film, Kites. They could have gone ahead with some other director, but then, they decided to put the project on the back burner.

The film is expected to be made on a budget of over Rs 100 crore.
When contacted, Sanjay Gupta confirmed the news and said that he was busy preparing Gulzar’s biography when he happened to mention this script to him. He read the two-line story description of the film and was really excited! It was brilliant, of course. He rang him up immediately, woke him up from his sleep, and told him that they are definitely making this film! Gupta further said that this would be the biggest film of her life, he told him. He is all charged up about making the film, and is surprised that Gulzar didn’t make the film earlier. He doesn’t want to reveal anything about the film, as the pre-production will take a long time. All he could say was that it is a period film about the partition. Titled Pathan, it is based on the Northwest frontier province. Mahesh Bhatt and Mahima impersonated on Facebook

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt was in a shock when his dentist, Dr Chetan Pradhan, walked up to him during a party, a few days ago and said, ‘It was nice to see you on Facebook.' Dr Pradhan was stumped when Bhatt told him that he has not registered himself on Facebook. That’s when Dr Pradhan realised that he had been chatting online with a complete stranger. When contacted, Dr Pradhan confirmed the news and said that this happened recently. Somebody is posing as filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt on Facebook and talking to the world. It’s extremely dangerous.
On retrospection, Dr Pradhan admitted that he did sense that he was not talking to Mahesh Bhatt, but he chose to ignore it. He explained that he started talking to the man who claimed that he is Mahesh Bhatt on Facebook over the last 10 days. However, this man did not seem to know much about him, which he found funny. But, he did not probe any further for the simple reason that the account had Bhatt saab’s face and he thought it would not be right to push the questions too far.
Dr Pradhan says that he had a similar experience with Mahima Chaudhary on Facebook. Mahima is also his patient and that’s how he understood that somebody was only claiming to be Mahima on the site. Mahesh Bhatt said that this so-called technology of today’s world is hazardous. It creates illusions. It can simply undo all the good work they have done by sending out wrong information and messages. It’s a wake-up call for celebrities.

Mahima too confirmed the story and said that somebody is impersonating her on Facebook. Some people have told her that they have been talking to her on the site and she has definitely told them that she has neither the time nor the inclination to go on Facebook.

Tanuja Chandra coming up with a movie having an unpublished story

Hindi author Kamna Chandra, who wrote the screenplay of Raj Kapoor’s Prem Rog and Yash Chopra’s Chandni, has written a film for her daughter Tanuja Chandra. The film is an intense love story set in a small town in north India and will feature Rajeev Khandelwal in the lead. Tanuja also confirmed the news and said that this is an unpublished story and very expensive to her mother’s heart.
This is the first time that her mother is writing a film for her and there’s no particular reason why she hasn’t written for any of her earlier films. When she wrote Prem Rog and Chandni, Tanuja was too young to make films. Even when she wrote 1942 A Love Story for her brother-in-law Vidhu Vinod Chopra, she wasn’t ready to take the thrust. However, her mother had saved this story for her so that she could utilize it whenever she wanted to. It is quite a precious gift from her mother.
Was it the critical acclaim of Aamir that made Tanuja to sign on Rajeev Khandelwal as the film’s lead man? Tanuja begs to differ. She said that long before Rajeev made his big screen debut in Aamir, he stood out among the multitude of television actors. She remembers she had seen him in some soap while surfing and had asked who he was. Now of course, in Aamir, he has shown how effortlessly he can blend into the character. But besides that point, he’s just the actor that she requires in her film.
While Rajeev is hugely kicked with Tanuja’s passion for her work, he has requested her to move the story’s time frame from the 1970s-80s to the current times. Rajeev confirmed the news saying that he has requested Tanuja to counterpoise the story, so as to make the film accessible to a wider section of audience from the current generation. It’s a story with unending universal relevance. The film will be shot in a sleepy scenic town like Ujjain or Bhopal.

Vivek and Abhishek will now share screen space

It is heard that Vivek Oberoi and Abhishek Bachchan are now easy enough with each other to be able to share screen space. They seem to have forgiven, and are ready to forget too. The two have agreed to dance together for an item number in Apoorva Lakhia's upcoming film, Mission Istanbul. Zayed Khan will also be part of the song.
It may be recalled that Vivek was involved with Aishwarya Rai before she got married to Abhishek. Vivek and Abhishek had passionately refused to shoot in the same frame in Lakhia's last film Shoot Out at Lokhandwala.

Things are fine between the two now. The ice was broken to quite an extent when Vivek attended Abhishek's grandmother Teji Bachchan's funeral last December. Things really improved between the two when Abhishek took the initiative and messaged Vivek on his wonderful performance at an awards function held in Bangkok early this month.
So, the stage is set for the dushman-turned-dost to rock. The item number will be shot in Mumbai in the next few days.

New Trend in Filmmaking

Shailendra Singh of Percept Picture Company (PPC) is all set to start a new trend in filmmaking. He is taking the entire crew, barring the leading ladies, of his upcoming film to Maldives for a trial shoot. Another reason for this weeklong trip is to get the cast and the crew familiar with each other. This trial shoot will help Shailendra to know if everything will fall in place when they actually start shooting the film in Maldives in September. This trip will cost PPC Rs 1.5 crore. PPC is all set to start work on the first of the three-film deal they have recently signed with Emraan Hashmi. The film, to be directed by Shamim Desai, has been tentatively titled Raftaar and co-stars Aditya Pancholi, Esha Deol and Neha Dhupia.
Shailendra Singh said that Raftaar is a film worth Rs 25 crore and belongs to a totally different genre from PPC’s earlier films. In Maldives, we will take care of the look of the film and it’s a great chance for everyone to get to know each other before we actually start shooting.
Johnny Depp stayed in a village for four months before starting work for Pirates of the Caribbean. Even our cricketers, before an important tour, have a 10 or 12-day camp in Bangalore for practice. Similarly, he is having a camp in Maldives, where they will start the actual shoot in September, after Emraan completes Raaz 2. Raftaar is a fast-paced film based on the media. Emraan of course is the lead actor. When quizzed about the expensive nature of the trial shoot, Shailendra said that it sure is an expensive process, but he prefers having an idea and visualize what’s in store for them when they actually shoot in September.
Talking about Percept Picture Company, Emraan Hashmi said that Shamim Desai is one of the most respected names in the advertising industry and he is glad that he is bringing in such an innovative idea to filmmaking. PPC is one of the most prolific production houses and since Shamim’s ideas are in sync with PPC, he is looking forward to the trip.

A dance number for promotional video of Kismat Konnection

It is heard that Vidya Balan had a tough time matching up with Shahid Kapoor while shooting a dance number for the promotional video of Kismat Konnection. It took more than 25 takes before one single dance step could be finalized. The sumptuous number, choreographed by Ahmed Khan, required Vidya to turn round in high heels, and she was clearly ill at ease. Vidya took more than 25 takes to get her moves right. She had never done such a dance number before. To top it all, she had to wear high heels.
Choreographer Ahmed jumped to Vidya's defense and said that even though she had a difficult time keeping up with a super-swift Shahid, she did not request him to change the steps. Besides, this is the first time that she was shooting a racy, western number.

Akshaye Khanna expelled his anger at media

Normally cool actor, Akshaye Khanna chose to give expel to his anger at the media lately. Last evening, while giving interviews for his forthcoming film Mere Baap Pehle Aap, at the producer’s office, Akshaye lost his cool because a reporter asked him if reports of him being alcoholic were true. An eyewitness to the incident revealed that Akshaye was at the producer’s office to give interviews related to his forthcoming film Mere Baap Pehle Aap. Everything was fine till a journalist from a news channel asked him if the reports about him being an alcoholic were true. The otherwise cool-headed Akshaye lost his temper and flung out the mike, resulting in breaking of one of the lights.
Not just that, he also pushed the reporter and got up from his seat and walked out. As a result, all the scheduled interviews had to be cancelled. The reporter and the rest of the media present there were shocked at Akshaye's behaviour and were heard complaining.
When contacted Mansi Maroo, the producer of the film, she denied the incident and said that Akshaye did not get into a fight with anyone. He left early, as he had to leave for another interview. A series of interviews were lined up for him and that's it.

Priyanka happy to work with Harman is What’s your Rashee

Priyanka Chopra is back from Miami, tanned and slimmer than ever, and raring to go. She has brought back a terrible cold too. Priyanka says that it could be because of the weather and also she was wearing a lot of beachwear in the film Dostana, but not a bikini! She had great fun shooting as two of her cousins who live in Florida were with her throughout the filming. While Miami had special visitors for Priyanka’s co-stars Abhishek and John, her 'special friend' never materialized in Miami. Aishwarya did visit Abhishek and Bipasha joined John, however Harman couldn't be there.
It seems that he is so busy and stressed with the release of his debut film that he could hardly afford to take a holiday at this time. Keeping personal things aside, it seems Priyanka is kicked about her professional life. She has signed films like Ashutosh Gowarikar's What's your Rashee? and Vishal Bhardwaj's Kaminay.
She is flattered that Ashutosh and Vishal chose her for their films. Ashutosh has made different films each time and Vishal's films Maqbool and Omkara had female roles to die for. She just can’t wait to see how Vishal will portray her. And the way Ashutosh has filmed Ash in Jodhaa Akbar, it will be a dream-come-true to work with him.
Priyanka was surprised when she got to know that Harman was starring opposite her in What’s your Rashee? It came as a delightful surprise to know that Harman was in the film. When Ashutosh approached her there was no question of not doing his film. But when she heard Harman was in the film, it was like a cherry on the cake. So yeah! They will get a lot more time to spend together.

After doing a series of different films like Fashion, Dostana and Drona, she is very happy to be finally doing love stories, and that too with Harman. While Vishal Bharadwaj has paired her opposite Shahid Kapoor in his film, Prakash Jha is keen to sign her for Rajneeti, opposite Ranbir Kapoor.

Umar

Prem, however, agrees to let Sapna marry Shashank after his assurances that he will do his best to make her comfortable. Shortly thereafter Victoria, the owner of the restaurant where Shashank is employed is brutally murdered, and the police find evidence-linking Shashank to her death, as a result he is arrested and held in a cell. It is later revealed that he was having an affair with Victoria, and he is ordered to be placed in Police custody pending his trial.

Ekta Kapoor coming up with C Kkompany

Ram Gopal Varma’s interest with the underworld is replicated in his films like Shiva, Satya, Company, D and the forthcoming Contract. Lately, when Ramu happened to see the promos of Ekta Kapoor’s C Kkompany, he couldn’t stop giving his creative inputs.
The story goes that Ramu met up with Ramesh Sippy, Ekta and Tusshar’s uncle and head of Balaji Distributions, as Balaji Telefilms was distributing his film Sarkar Raj. Ramu was very interested when he heard that the promos of Balaji’s C Kkompany were supposed to hit the theatres with his film.
He asked Ramesh Sippy to show him the teaser promo and suggested some changes. Ramu suggested that the promo should look as if C Kkompany is taking on the might of D Company in the film. Tusshar loved Ramu’s idea and immediately incorporated it in the film’s teaser promo.
When contacted, Tusshar confirmed and said that Ramu met his uncle Rameshji and was curious to know about the first look of C KKompany. He suggested that the promo should make it look like C Kkompany is a new underworld gang, which is starting to make its presence felt. Ramu then suggested that the promo should look as if they are in the bad books of D Company because they are overshadowing it. He also said that he has made films like D and Company. Ramu’s point of view was that the film’s promos should make it look like three common men set up a gang, which takes on D Company.
He thought that his suggestion was very interesting and incorporated it in the film’s promo. The idea sounded like a sure shot winner to Tusshar as Ramu is very good with his promotions. Since it was a teaser where they won’t be revealing too much about the film, this seemed perfect. They will soon be making the other promos where they show more of the film.
Ram Gopal Varma also confirmed and said that he found the film very interesting and suggested that they incorporate the concept that three losers decide to make the biggest underworld gang in Mumbai. However, the problem is that the only criminal experience they have is traveling in a train without a ticket and the other problem is that they want to take on the D Company. That’s his input.
Incidentally, Ekta Kapoor and Ramu have also tied up to make Veerappan, a film based on the dreaded bandit.

PNC coming up with Guerilla Flicks

PNC i.e. Pritish Nandy Communications is trying their hands at something that is a completely new concept in Indian cinema. It is heard that they will launch new filmmakers who have eccentric film ideas. The idea is to make films, which outwardly seem almost impossible as profitable business ventures.
Pritish Nandy explained that it was an unconventional idea but that’s the whole point of cinema. They at PNC are there to take chances. Hence they are launching a new series called Guerrilla Flicks.
Nandy also said that according to him Guerrilla flicks are the true movies. It is a genre of cinema that is innovative in approach and will include comedy, action and more. They will be non-star and non-profit films. To make a Guerrilla Flick, all they need is vision.
Filmmakers mostly treat films as moneymaking ventures and do not take risks. He added that he is shocked to see that today’s so-called big filmmakers only talk of enormous budgets and ridiculous targets. They don't want to make films. All the films under Guerrilla Flicks will be small budget ventures with small stars but big cinema.
Arindam Mitra is shooting the first film from the ten-film series. Nandy has big plans for his new project. They want a grasp of unconventional talents including some of the biggest ad-makers of the country. All they need to do is direct the film and believe in PNC. Every director, big or small, has a secret wish of making a film that is completely his own vision.
To prevent this experiment from turning into a disaster, the head honcho of PNC will look into every script personally.

He also said that PNC is not afraid of losses. Thankfully so far they have had only two loss-making ventures including Ismail Merchant’s The Mystic Masseur and Kabir Sadanand’s Popcorn Khao Mast Ho Jao.

Mithun Chakraborthy’s son Mimoh’s debut film, Jimmy the of bombed at the box office, but the ‘Jimmy’ connection is far from over for Mithun. UTV will release the book in association with Virgin Comics. The storyline will spin around Mithun, who fights many famous Bollywood baddies like Sir John of Ram Lakhan. Mithun’s comic avatar will mouth many Bollywood dialogues as well. The other characters of the book will be shown working for an agent called Disco. Emaraan Hashmi has a promising future

Subsequent to the success of his latest film, Jannat, Emraan Hashmi is snowed under with new offers. Cashing in on the wave of success, Emraan recently raised his price to Rs 5 crore per film, and has become extremely particular about his choice of films. It is heard that he has now signed a three-film deal worth Rs 15 crore with Percept Picture Company (PPC).
It is also known that David Dhawan will direct one of the three films. It is believed that Emraan has a promising future. Jannat is proof that he is improving as an actor.

Subhash Ghai disappointed for missing the opportunity

Subhash Ghai's loss has turned out to be a huge gain for Bhushan Kumar of T Series. Lately, Adlabs purchased the worldwide rights for the Himesh Reshammiya starrer Karzzzz for an enormous Rs 35 crore not including the music and video rights which are with T Series.
Bhushan Kumar bought the rights of the film for a worthless sum of Rs 3 crore from Karz's original filmmaker Subhash Ghai. Incidentally, Ghai was also given the option of being a 40 per cent partner in the film. However, Ghai did not forecast Karzzzz being such a big money maker and turned down the offer. He chose to take only Rs 3 crore and not be a partner in the remake.
Ghai was very surprised when he saw the amount of money that Karzzzz has already generated. He never expected Adlabs to buy it for Rs 35 crore that too without the music and video rights.
Himesh Reshammiya composes the music of Karzzzz. Besides the music, T Series has also retained the video rights and hence all the money generated from the DVD and VCDs will go in their kitty. Ghai definitely did not make a wise decision by turning down the partnership offer.
Initially Subhash Ghai was disappointed for missing the opportunity. It is a business decision that went wrong.
Rajesh Sawhney of Adlabs is very happy about acquiring the rights of Karzzzz. He said that Karzzzz is a combination of Himesh's talent and a classic hit film. They are confident that Karzzzz will remake history.

Kamal Hassan’s daughter Shruti in Luck movie

Recently we heard that Shruti, Kamal Haasan’s daughter is all set to make her debut opposite Imran Khan, Aamir Khan’s nephew in Luck movie of Soham Shah. Reportedly Luck film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Mithun Chakraborthy. Gossips have been extensive about her debut film and now, Soham Shah has finalized Shruti as she fit the bill for the character he had in mind. Dhillin Mehta of Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision produces Luck. It seems that Soham Shah wanted to cast a new girl opposite Imran and Shruti seemed perfect for the role. They required a girl who would look innocent as well as convincing while doing the action sequences. Soham met Shruti in Chennai and she loved the script too. However, she didn’t hesitate to inform that this being her first film, she would like to take her father’s opinion before saying yes. Once she got the nod from him, she was on board. Shruti started shooting from July 8 in South Africa where the film will be shot from start to finish. The story shows all the characters coming from different parts of the world who try out their luck in South Africa. Shruti’s role includes a lot of action as she plays a girl who is tougher than the boys in the film. Shruti, who already has a well-toned body, will take lessons from action director Allan Amin to gear up for the action scenes. Her body suit the character she plays in Luck and that was a significant factor in casting her in the film.
Soham says that he is very happy to have stars like Mithun, Sanjay Dutt, Danny Denzongpa, and Ravi Kishan along with Imran and Shruti in the film and he is very excited about the film.

Talking to Manisha Koirala about her likes and dislikes

If we try to remember the essentially commended Hindi movies such as Bombay, Khamoshi: The musical, Dil Se, Company and Escape from Taliban one cannot help but remember the path breaking performances by Manisha Koirala. She, who made her acting debut in 1989 with the Nepali movie Pheri Bhetaula, stepped into the glamorous world of Bollywood with Subhash Ghai’s blockbuster Saudagar. Subsequently, ventured into realistic cinema leaving her mark with her diverse roles.

Her tryst with modelling and movies paved her way to Mumbai. While recollecting her initial days in Mumbai, Manisha said that she has some profound memories attached with Mumbai and particularly with south Mumbai. Since her initial days in this city, she used to park herself at the Oberoi, Nariman Point, where she had some of the best times. Best times are oft spent with best buddies. She definitely agreed and said that Cuffe Parade is one of her favourite places, as it is the home of her best friends. Apart from this, shopping and eating out also draws Manisha towards the town. She elaborated that she likes to go on a shopping spree at Courtyard in Colaba and the Oberoi Shopping Centre at Nariman Point. And as far as food is concerned, she relishes French cuisine and Zodiac Grill at The Taj Mahal Palace and Tower; Apollo Bunder is among her preferred eating joints.

Talking more about SoBo Manisha added that she feels that the absence of three-wheelers in SoBo distinguishes it from the suburbs. Although she likes Versova, which is her current residence, because of the greenery and mangroves around it, She wishes that the traffic was more controlled and the roads were much more cleaner like SoBo.

When asked about her favourite movie she replied that The Last King of Scotland is the last movie that she really liked. When it comes to her favourite books the list goes on. Awakening To Your Life’s Purpose by Eckhart Tolle and Byron Katie’s Loving What It Is are among her favourites.

Her film career graph started shooting up when she was nominated for the Filmfare Best Actress Award (1996) for her role in 1942: A love story. In 1997, she won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance for Bombay and then she bagged Star Screen Award Best Actress, Khamoshi: The Musical and Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance in C Kkompany.

After taking a break for few years, Manisha is now believed to be gearing up for her comeback with some interesting movies in her kitty, which will be a treat for her fans that have not seen her on the silver screen for a long time.

Mukhbir once again clouded by controversy

The release of Mukhbir has already been lying in the cans for the last two years. It is known that the movie is once again clouded by controversy. Pritish Nandy Communications (PNC) who had initially produced the film has sent a notice to producers Color Chips New Media Limited, distribution partners Pyramid Samaira and all possible film associations including the Film Producers Guild saying that the film should not be allowed to release unless the matter is solved.
The film starring Suniel Shetty, Sameer Dattani, Jackie Shroff, Om Puri and Raima Sen, which is slated to release on June 20, may or may not hit the screens on time. Directed by Mani Shankar of 16 December fame, this dark action thriller was initially produced by PNC but the film did not find any takers and had been lying in the cans for almost two years. That's when Chennai-based Color Chips took over the film and decided to release it with the help of Pyramid Samaira.
PNC has said that they had paid Rs 12 lakh to Mani Shankar, three-and- a-half years ago and he disappeared with the money and film. However, according to the spokesperson of Color Chips, PNC could not release the film back then and Color Chips legally took over the film from the director. A source from Color Chips said that back then Suniel Shetty's market value was not strong enough, but now he's back in the reckoning. Even Sameer Dattani was relatively unknown. Now that there is so much buzz around the newcomer and that the film has found takers. Now, PNC wants to cash in on the film.
Sarparaj, Vice-president, Operations, Color Chips said that they cannot be accountable for the alleged liability of the director of the film or for that matter any third party. They also take strong objection to the manner in which their name was being dragged into the matter. Only time will tell if Mukhbir will finally release as scheduled on June 20 or the fight between PNC and Color Chips will delay the film’s release again.

Sanju had to give 22 retakes for a single scene

Sanjay Dutt as we all know is known to be a perfectionist. But lately, his status of being a one-take artiste was in danger when he was shooting an action scene for Sujoy Ghosh’s Aladdin. Sanjay Dutt reportedly had to give 22 retakes to complete one single scene. The filmmakers had specially hired William Ong, an action-director from Hong Kong, to sharpen Sanju’s martial arts skills. However, Dutt was unable get it rights. A hard taskmaster that Ong is, he was unhappy with some action sequences and made Dutt give 22 retakes before the shot could be canned. This repeat performance left the actor angry and frustrated.
Ong is known to be with the team ever since the Nanhe Jaisalmer schedule in October last year. Sanjay Dutt, who had initially allotted 20 days to shoot for the film, will now shoot for about 45 days. In fact, in his quest for a perfect shot, Ong did many retakes. Sanjay, who is known to give one-take shots, was obviously not happy with the number of retakes that Ong asked him for. Ultimately, Sanjay had given as many as 22 re-takes before the scene was finally canned. The actor was literally fuming. Ong has been part of Jackie Chan’s company for a long time and has done many action sequences in the past. He wanted a perfect shot and that’s why Sanjay had to give so many retakes before Ong was happy with the scene.

Katrina Kaif spends time with her friend Shiamak Dawar

Katrina Kaif of Nanhe Jaisalmer was seen dancing all day and all night. After all, she has to give a live stage performance soon. But, the good part of all this hard work is that Katrina gets to spend time with her long-time friend Shiamak Dawar.
It was good to see Katrina and Shiamak together. They’ve formed a mutual admiration society. Katrina, it seems that, has been practicing for five to seven hours daily. She is quite passionate about dancing. Katrina had gone to see Shiamak and had said that people who hadn’t watched it are wastrels and doing nothing of consequence.
Well, as long as this lovely lady is doing something of consequence, the men won’t be complaining!

Sanjay Dutt’s visa papers resent because of errors

Whether it is his US visa or his political goals, Sanjay Dutt continues to make headlines. It is heard that Sanjay Dutt, who has confessed his political aspirations to the media, is currently shooting in the Bahamas for Ashtavinayak's film, Blue. He is also eagerly awaiting news on his US visa. It is also known that Dutt's visa papers are being processed in Washington. In all likelihood, he will get his visa before the schedule of Blue in the Bahamas is over so that he can proceed to the US from there itself and spend time with his daughter Trishala. Apparently, the local travel agent, who filled the form for Dutt's US visa in Mumbai, had made an artificial pas in the form by writing that Sanju's spouse's name is Rhea Pillai! This is surprising as Sanju and his wife Maanyata have been one of the most high profile media couple lately. Reportedly, the visa form also had some other irregularities because of which the local American visa authorities had to send the form back asking for clarifications. While on the topic of Dutt contesting the next Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket, there is talk that his sister and sitting MP from Mumbai North-West constituency, Priya Dutt is ready to sacrifice her post for Sanju. Priya, who was a pillar of strength to her father Sunil Dutt, is very close to her brother too.
Baba Siddique, the Congress MLA from the same constituency and a close friend of the Dutt family, said that he would personally want both Sanjay and Priya to get Congress tickets. There is no reason why both brother and sister can't be in active politics at the same time. He is extremely close to the Dutt family and he wants the best for both.
After the dangerous acclaim as well as the box office success of Khuda Kay Liye, Percept Picture Company has signed Shoaib Mansoor to make a Bollywood film. The critically acclaimed Pakistani director will scout for one top Pakistani actor and a Bollywood star. Percept is already trying to woo Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar, depending on their dates and availability. This will be the first of its kind Indo-Pak venture. Shailendra Singh said that it is true that they have signed Shoaib Mansoor to make a film with them. They have also finalized the subject of the film and he is right now in Pakistan busy finalizing the last draft. It is a big budget film, around Rs 55 crore and is based on relationships. They feel that Shoaib is an immensely talented guy and they are happy that someone as talented as Shoaib is crossing over to make Bollywood film. He is a powerhouse of talent. The film is based on multiple relationships just like Khuda Kay Liye. As planned right now, the film will hit the theaters in 14 months from now.
Elaborating on his association with Shoaib, Singh further added that during one of his chats with Shoaib they discussed the kind of cinema they wanted to make with him. He understood and he came up with this brilliant script. He has Saif and Akshay in his mind and he has spoken to both of them. He also sent them the DVD of Khuda Kay Liye so that they know the kind of work Shoaib has done. Khuda Kay Liye is in its tenth week right now and he is glad that Shoaib is keen to be part of Bollywood. The film will also have a leading Pakistan star along with an Indian star and will have other actors from both the countries.

Ashutosh Gowarikar threw a party for the success of Jodhaa Akbar

It seems that Ashutosh Gowarikar believes in working hard and partying harder. Gowarikar, along with UTV Motion Pictures threw a party exclusively for the media to celebrate the success of his latest film, Jodhaa Akbar. Reportedly Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai also attended this event. After which Ash and Abhi attended Karan Johar’s birthday bash which Shahrukh Khan threw.
Media persons from print and broadcast media were invited, along with photographers. They were thanked for their support. However, Gowarikar requested photographers and journalists not to click photographs and interview stars as the sole purpose of the party was to only celebrate the film’s success with the media.
While Sonu Sood and Poonam Sinha mingled with the media persons, music director AR Rahman and Javed Akhtar also stayed till the party ended.

1920 movie coming soon of Vikram Bhatt

We all are aware that Vikram Bhatt has constantly been in news recently over his break up with his long-time girlfriend Ameesha Patel. Now he is suspected link with his 1920 actress Adhah Sharma, and producing a big budget horror film 1920, after the super success of Raaz. When he was asked about his feelings when he reads about his ex-girlfriend Ameesha being happy with the new man, Kanav Puri in her life. He replied that he thinks two people come together in order to be happy. But if you are not happy together even after trying hard, it is no one's fault. You should move on. He would have been sad if Ameesha had not found happiness after moving away. So, he is quite happy for her. It was also heard that Ameesha’s parent were not happy with Ameesha’s relationship with Vikram and when they heard that they have split they are quite happy. But Vikram said that her parents are too insignificant for him to comment on. It is heard that her parents claim that Vikram instigated Ameesha against them. Vikram replied to this that it is absurd, and anyone who believes that is a fool. Ameesha's parents stole her money and she walked out on them. What has that got to do with him? Obviously, bank accounts can't be wrong, that too for six years. The fact that even after Ameesha and Vikram broke up she has not made up with her parents. It is reported that he tends to jump from one relationship to another. But he said that he is not Lucky in relationships. In some cases, he has been guilty of not trying hard enough while in some he has tried too hard and have failed. With every failure, there's a resulting heartache. He is certainly not an emotional masochist. He also said that he is very much single. He has never kept his relationships secret. He knows that wearing his heart on his sleeve is giving him a bad reputation, but he refuses to be a charlatan.
Apparently, his latest film 1920 stars two new comers and they come at a whopping cost. He believes that one should give today's audience the best that money can buy. Since the ticket price is the same whether it is a big budget or a small budget film, why should the audience make a concession? They must get their money's worth. Since his company ASA Productions first film, Mumbai Salsa, did not do well at the box office, 1920 must be really important for him. Mumbai Salsa got a lot of acclaim though the time of release killed the film. But, it was really a good film. The fact that the overseas distributor sent it to Cannes should speak for it. 1920 is an
ambitious film and his partners Mr Sharma and Mrs Bishnoi, and he himself has put their money where their mouth is. They are very happy with the film. In fact, He can't wait for it to hit the theatres.
He feels complete being single. That is more important than anything. One should not need another person to complete one. When one is incomplete he is also incomplete in a relationship. Right now, his aim is to train his daughter to swim. She works with him during her holidays.

Salman Khan in 10 Ka Dum

Salman Khan's reality quiz show, 10 Ka Dum on Sony TV, is all set to be on air this week end and Salman Khan is leaving no stone unturned to make the show a grand success. There were speculations that Salman has been constantly doing mock rehearsals at his brother, Sohail Khan's office. However during one of the mock rehearsals, Salman himself was completely foxed by a question based on cricket. The next thing he did was to call his ex-girlfriend Sangeeta Bijlani and asked her to speak to her husband Azharuddin to get the correct answer.
During the ridicule rehearsals of 10 Ka Dum, one of the questions that deceived everyone was about cricket. Before anyone could react, Salman reached for his cell phone and called his ex-girlfriend Sangeeta Bijlani and requested her to speak to her husband Mohammad Azharuddin. Salman spoke to Azhar and checked out the correct answer and got back to work leaving everyone around him completely stunned.
Not many people are aware, but Salman has kept in touch with Sangeeta and in fact Sangeeta still loves to spend time in Khan's farmhouse at Panvel.

Veer of Salman Khan is a copy of Taras Bulba

It is known that Salman Khan's Veer is a copy of Hollywood hit Taras Bulba (1962), which starred Yul Brynner and Tony Curtis and is originally based on a short story by Nikolai Gogol. Though producer Vijay Galani said that that Sallu has written the script of the film, director Anil Sharma said that other writers were involved in the project. Adapting the story to a Bollywood context is Salman's only contribution to the script. Shaktimaan and Anil Sharma have jointly penned the screenplay. Shaktimaan is the one who has previously worked with Anil Sharma in Gadar - A Love Story has written the dialogues of Veer. Anil Sharma said that the story idea is Salman’s but several writers contributed to the script including Shaktiman. When asked if J Lee Thompson’s Taras Bulba inspires the film, Sharma maintained that the story idea was Salman’s. It is left to us to see whether Salman shares his father’s genes but as far as his earlier efforts at writing go, they haven’t garnered great reviews. His film for Somy Ali, which was to be directed by him was inspired by Hollywood film Blind Fury while his film Chandramukhi co-starring Sridevi was a copy of Tom Hank's Big. Kunal Kohli making four films independently

Kunal Kohli, filmmaker of Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Hum Tum and Fanaa, is now ready to make films that have nothing to do with Yash Raj Films. Even as Kunal Kohli's Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic co-produced by Yash Raj Films is ready for release, the filmmaker is busy making plans for his next four films, which will be made by his own production house, Kunal Kohli Productions.
Kunal Kohli, who turned producer with Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, has decided to go independent as a producer by making four films, which may not be a tie-up with Yash Raj Films, in the next two years. The first film, which will be directed by Kohli, is a political satire with a good dose of comedy and romance. The script of the film is almost ready.
Kohli’s assistants Vicky Bahri, Danish Aslam and Bony Gandhi will direct the three other films. Kunal said that when he started out, someone had helped him learn the intricacies of filmmaking. Similarly, he wanted to help all his teammates who want to make films with whatever little experience he has gathered.
While Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic was made over a period of two years, the upcoming films will be made in a much shorter span. While he usually takes around two years to make his films, Kunal Kohli Productions will produce four films back to back. He will tie up with whichever studio he feels is suitable for the project..

Fire in Sanjay Bhansali and Aditya Pancholi’s building

Recently it was known that a massive fire broke out in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's building Magnum Opus on Juhu-Versova Link Road early afternoon on Sunday.
Someone from Bhansali’s household told that it could have been much worse if Aditya Pancholi, who lives on the lower floor, hadn't seen the fire in their neighbor’s house. He raised an alarm and acted swiftly to help extinguish the fire.
Sanjay Bhansali and his mother occupy the fourth floor of the building, while Aditya and Zarina Wahab live on the first floor. Fire broke out on the third floor and once the fire fighters were called in, the building was immediately evacuated and the fire was brought under control.
Aditya Pancholi had just returned from Dubai and he was taking out the CDs out of his car, when he saw smoke springing from the third floor of his building. At the same time, Sanjay Bhansali opened his window and shouted down to him whether why was the smoke coming from the third floor? He immediately realised the enormity of the situation and dialed for the fire department. They arrived within three minutes and the fire was extinguished.
However, the bedroom of the third floor apartment was totally gutted. The couple Bhavna and Gautam Jasraj in whose apartment, the fire broke out were heartbroken. Everyone's heart went out to them as they are kind souls. Bhavna was hysterical and rightly so. Had his wife Zarina not been shooting in Hyderabad, she'd have taken charge. In her absence, thankfully he had the presence of mind to immediately shut down the electricity lines and the gas pipes as soon as he spotted the fire. Otherwise, the worst could've happened said Aditya.

Sanjay and Manyata Dutt Productions

Manyata seems to be taking her being Mrs. Sanjay Dutt too seriously. It is known that Sanjay Dutt’s soon-to-be-launched production company which was previously named Sanjay Dutt Productions will now be called Sanjay and Manyata Dutt Productions.
Manyata wants the world to know where she fits into Sanju’s life. She has received a lot of condemnations from people who were not happy with their alliance. This is Manyata’s message to everyone that she is here to stay. She is a positive influence in Sanju's life.
At the time when Sanjay was thinking on the idea of launching his own production company, he got busy with his sentencing and other legal hassles. In fact, Manyata was the one who encouraged him to launch the company in the first place. Apparently, she also searched for property where Sanjay could set up his office. Now with the official launch just a couple of months away, Sanju has decided that he wants the company to be called Sanjay and Manyata Dutt Productions. So now there is a question in everyone’s mind that is this change only limited to adding Manyata’s name or will she be an active participant in the company? Manyata plans to be actively involved in the working of the company. Sanju expects her to run the show when he is away shooting for other films. She was the one who narrowed in on two places in Bandra that can serve as the office for the company.
Recent rumour in the industry also suggests that Sanjay has signed close to 13 directors for various films that will be backed by Sanjay and Manyata Dutt Productions. The official announcement will be made in August 2008. Some of the leading directors are being approached and names like Milan Luthria and Sujoy Ghosh have already been signed on.
